Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs)
A STD is when an infection is passed to another person through sexual contact.
STIs are still very common and many people have had one – it is estimated over 1 million STIs are acquired on a daily basis.
It is important to treat an STI once test positive or believe you may have one. Symptoms can be developed at any time – it can be within a day, a week, a year or never. Some of the health conditions that are developed from catching an STI include:
- Pain when using the bathroom
- Itchy genitals or anus
- A really bad rash
- Warts around genitals or anus
- Discharge from vagina, penis or anus
